byproducts: CO2, carbon; GeO2 was stirred in an aq. soln. of KOH, the suspn. was heated to dryness, the residue was dried overnight at 115 °C, ground, charged into the fixed-bed flow reactor, Ar with (CH3O)2CO was passed at 350°C; CO, H2, carbon have no influence; the react. products downstream were collected in fractions using water-chilled condenser and analyzed;
