copper in neat (no solvent) mixing Ge and Cu, heating this contact mass in a reactor (350°C, 2 h) in a stream of purified N2, raising temp. to 425+/-5°C, replacing N2 by CH3Cl, getting a liq. product after 15 min in the ice-cooled receiver flask, react. time: 14 h; bubbling N2 through the resulting product mixture for 15 min to remove dissolved CH3Cl, detn. by (1)H NMR spectroscopy;
