sodium amalgam; n-butyllithium in tetrahydrofuran; hexane byproducts: mercury; Cp2TiCl2 and Na/Hg stirred in THF for 2 h, after 2 h decanted, chilled to -78°C; 2 M BuLi/hexane added dropwise to PhS(O)Me in THF at 0°C, chilled to -78°C, added with stirring to soln. of (Cp2TiCl)2, warmed to room temp.; filtered, evapd. in vac., extd. with benzene, concd., chromd. (Al2O3, hexane/benzene), purified by sublimation at 130°C/0.1 mmHg; elem. anal.;
