(THF) to THF soln. of BuLi at -78°C, stirring (-78°C, 15 min, N2 or Ar), quenching with 3 equiv of Me3SiCl and stirring (room temp., 2 h).; Removal of solvent (vac.), extn. of oily residue (hexane), exposure of hexane soln. to air to quench any organovanadium species present, stirring, filtn. GC-MS anal. of yielded colorless soln.;
