in neat (no solvent) excess of Te powder and o-I2C6Cl4 were heated in a sealed tube at 300°C; Te2(C6Cl4)2 sepd. on cooling, boiling DMF removed all the TeI4, residue was extd. with a further aliquots of DMF, ext. was concd. leaving crystals of Te2(C6Cl4)2 on cooling;
