a soln. of dry LiBr in THF was added at 20°C under N2 to a stirred suspn. of CuBr in THF, soln. was cooled to -60°C and a soln. of i-PrMgCl in THF was added dropwise, mixt. was stirred for 15 min at -60°C; not isolated from the soln., used directly for further reactions;
